Real stuff:
I am native Floridian. I live in "The Other Florida" (there's a book out there somewhere by that name...)
I know nothing of "Postcard Palm Trees on Moonlit Beaches," nor do I know anything of retirement communities or hotels and resorts, or places like Miami Beach or the Keys or Cape Canaveral or NASA.
My Florida is a world of lush, green-and-tangled, semi-tropical forests, cold rivers and creeks with white sandbars, small fields of corn, cotton, and peanuts, and gardens full of fresh black-eyed peas, tomatoes, okra, and creamy, golden yellow corn and orchards of pecans and sweet, juicy fruits like figs, peaches, pears, blueberries and watermelons and small towns with libraries, movies, ice cream cones, hamburgers, schools and churches.
I and my family are just plain ordinary down-to-earth people-- each with their own way of believing in, and with their own understanding of God, who trust that ultimately all is well and is as it should be in the universe.
We have untold numbers of relatives all the way from newborn babies to great-grandparents. We are probably just about as average as it is possible to be. We all love each other and we are very happy to be who we are.
I like pondering philosophical questions, and I like poetry. I like art. I like painting. I have painted about two thousand pieces. The last time I counted, it was twelve hundred.
I like using acrylics, oil pastels and mixed media, and I like using oil, but I don't like using chalk pastels nor do I like using watercolors, except maybe in color washes. I like to paint on any ground from canvas to wood to cardboard and paper, but I don't like canvas boards at all.
Right now I'm into painting with this mouse onto this screen and off into the never-never ether of the cyber-world which is where they'll probably find the essence of all of us one of these days.
I like to do landscapes best of all, but I also love still life and I periodically like to do the pieces that most of my family and some friends call "that weird stuff." That's me. Weird.

:-)
